The pre-historic settlement patterns are not only the result of human being’s adaption to the geographical environment and ecosystems, or the social form and structure’s manifestation in the dimension of substance and space, but also culturally meaningful construction. They are infrastructure designed and constructed to satisfy the daily life routines of our pre-historic ancestors.

Briefly speaking, the key points of the lecture include: (1) human being’s awe and yearning , the way of treating the deceased members may have led to the tendency of settlement; (2) the pre-historic basic units could possibly be monogamous families;(3) on grounds of the archeological discoveries, the pre-historic tribes could be divided into two subgroups, namely, discrete and agglomeration;(4) the appearance of the double-chamber and multi-chamber housings symbolizes the maturity of large-scale families;(5) the emergence of ceremonial architecture indicates the eclipse of self-sufficiency and autonomy tradition of the pre-historic tribes.
